Flower Garden Baby Quilt from Wedding Dress Blue

A co-worker is expecting a baby. His wife loves flowers (the baby is to be named Zinnia) but doesn’t like the colors pink or purple. How to make something just right?

Well, first you find the right pattern. Check THIS out.

Yes, the blocks have a lot of pieces–53 each. And those pieces are little. But, the right thing is the right thing.

And an unexpected backing fabric from an old scrap that was too cute to be thrown away. See how the colors work?! Such good fortune.

And I love the outcome.

A fun Christmas from Elsie Quilts

Our Christmas included giving this quilt and an apron to our son's fiancee. She kind of expected the quilt but hadn't seen it, but didn't expect the apron. What fun to watch her face...

She wanted lots of flowers, white with pastels. While it was a challenge to find flowers in November, a local shop had this panel with a few fat quarters to match in a kit -- only one left. Fun to make for a charming and fun-loving young woman who is also smart and keeps surprising us. How delightful to surprise her!

Flower Chain Quilt from The Cutting Table Quilt Blog - A Blog for Quilters by Quilters

In 1825, 14-year-old Jane Valentine started an Irish Chain quilt. Five years and 10,092 blocks later, her quilt was finally complete.

According to the National Museum of American History, Jane used 130 different cotton prints and a plain white background that is quilted “6 stitches per inch with a flower motif.”

(Keep in mind, every one of those tiny stitches was done by hand. No wonder it took 5 years!)

This week Jenny whipped up a new version of the Irish Chain based on our quick and easy Irish Change pattern. The addition of a sweet little flower block ...

Waiting For the Right Fabrics and NTT from My Quilt Infatuation

Happy Needle and Thread Thursday, friends!  I have a brand new quilt top to share with you today, and I am so very excited about it.  I designed this pattern over two years ago and at the time, I had a very specific feel in mind for this quilt.  I really wanted the fabrics to have a certain vibe, and I couldn't immediately find a collection that felt right.  So, the pattern stayed in my design folder where I kind of forgot about it for awhile.

When I saw the 365 Fifth Avenue collection by Bari J, I started ...
